How do we work?
Each of our projects combines three key pillars,
because we believe lasting change comes from united
and empowered communities through the
co-creation of spaces.
Community Development
Public Spaces
Whether through urban art, workshops or social events, we strengthen community bonds, beautify the area, support local artists, inspire community engagement and develop skills that enable economic independence.

Baja California – Mexicali
Since 2015, Fundación Hogares has implemented urban and social regeneration actions in the area known as “Los Pueblas” in Mexicali, Baja California.
Parque del Kínder: This project was developed in the Valle de Puebla housing unit, an area marked by socio-spatial segregation and systemic violence. Its main goal was to create a public space with a soccer field, serving as a meeting point for community residents. This project has been a success for safety, promoting social interaction and developing areas for all ages.
Guerreras Unidas: This neighborhood group, formed by 20 women, emerged to address the need to eliminate prevalent gender-based violence in the housing unit. Through workshops and the creation of a women’s network, they aim to empower residents and achieve economic independence together.
“Pintemos Los Pueblas”: Over 1,700 m² of urban art was painted, improving the area’s urban image and reducing the perception of insecurity. 66% of women reported feeling safer walking through streets with murals.
Electricity Workshop: 356 hours of social participation, 7 certificates issued by ICIC.
Plumbing Workshop: 276 hours of social participation, 16 certificates issued by ICIC.
Welding Workshop: 546 hours of social participation, 16 certificates issued by ICIC.
Carpentry Workshop I & II: 1,041 hours of social participation, 10 certificates issued by ICIC.
Current projects
Parque Coatepec: The goal is to activate the space and promote its use as a place that fosters social and environmental awareness, while also serving as a green area to mitigate the region’s high temperatures. Actions include physical restoration of the park, community workshops, climate resilience initiatives (e.g., environmental fairs), and urban art projects.

Baja California – Tijuana
Since 2015, Fundación Hogares has implemented urban and social regeneration actions in Tijuana, Baja California, in housing units such as Cañadas del Florido and Urbivillas del Prado (first and second sections).
Parque Lineal and community center Cañadas del Florido: One of the main needs identified by the community was the rehabilitation of a pedestrian walkway that had become a hotspot for vandalism and insecurity. The project led to the construction of a linear park and a community center in this 7,000 m² space. The project engaged 7,820 neighbors and formed a community committee to maintain the facilities.
The committee “Voces Unidas” promoted community participation initiatives to rehabilitate 18 public spaces totaling 2,013 m², with the support of Fundación Hogares. This included painting 41 murals (1,451 m²), building 17 pieces of urban furniture, collecting 3 tons of trash, and reforesting the recovered public spaces.
Parque Los Olivos: In 2023, a multipurpose space was built within the linear park Los Olivos. The 95 m² space includes a cultural area, playgrounds, communal space, changing area, boxing area, and a calisthenics module. This initiative fostered community ownership, increased recreational spaces for residents, encouraged governance actions and directly benefits 8,166 residents within a 400-meter radius.
Current projects
Parque Los Andes: The goal is to establish a communal space and skill development hub, particularly for children and youth, promoting entrepreneurship, artistic and cultural activities, and boosting the local economy. Actions include equipping the community center with furniture, educational, sports, and recreational materials, supplies, and cultural/artistic workshops.
Area: 3,000 m²
Status: Implementation
Chihuahua – Ciudad Juárez
Since 2021, Fundación Hogares has implemented urban and social regeneration actions in Ciudad Juárez. The area suffers from severe water stress, meeting less than 50% of the local daily demand. This situation is worsened by urban sprawl concentrated in the southern part of the city, coupled with overexploitation and contamination of the El Bolsón del Hueco by the make-up industry. As a result, all interventions in this location now incorporate a focus on sustainable water management and rainwater harvesting.
Rincones de Salvarcar and Hacienda Las Torres Universidad: The goal is to implement a strategy to improve public spaces based on participatory community planning. As part of the Aliados por la Vivienda program, the State Housing, Land, and Infrastructure Commission of Chihuahua (COESVI), together with Fundación Hogares, carried out urban and social regeneration actions in various spaces within Polygon 5 in Ciudad Juárez:
3 neighborhood committees formed
13,080 m² of public space recovered, including 1,315 m² of murals, 8 pergolas, 4 umbrellas, 12 benches, 11 picnic tables, 2 outdoor gyms, 3 playgrounds, 1 inclusive module for people with disabilities, 200 native trees and shrubs planted, 2,310 m² of nut shell mulch for soil improvement, and 1,750 linear meters of irrigation system
1 sociocultural activation through a festival with artistic, cultural, and sports activities, attended by 150 people, representatives from 10 allied organizations and agencies, including the municipal president
4 governance workshops to identify potential investments by local stakeholders, with a total of 16 participating organizations
Current projects
Riberas del Bravo: The goal is to promote sustainable water management through the implementation of rainwater harvesting and greywater reuse systems, as well as community capacity building through environmental fairs and workshops. The project plan includes installing 50+ rainwater harvesting and greywater reuse systems, planting native species, and organizing environmental workshops and fairs.
Status: Implementation
Parque Anáhuac: The goal is to strengthen community capacities through participatory planning, contributing to climate change adaptation by creating sustainable spaces. Actions include consolidating 2 pavilions, creating 3 recreational spaces, and implementing a socio-environmental community development program.
Area: 4,150 m²
Status: Implementation
Parajes de San José: The goal is to create a space for social interaction and integration, involving different communities in activities, pedagogies, and daily practices that facilitate life projects of the community members and social well-being. Actions include building a community center, urban art, and community workshops.
Area: 400 m²
Status: Implementation
Los Kilómetros: The goal is to empower the community through environmental workshops, providing the necessary tools to significantly reduce water consumption and promote sustainable and efficient water management practices. Actions include supplying and installing up to 15 water tanks for collective rainwater storage, training for system maintenance, and workshops on responsible water use.
Parque Mujer Amuzga: The goal is to establish a neighborhood gathering area that strengthens community bonds by providing a safe, inclusive space that contributes to the environment. Actions include a calisthenics module, playground, tree planting, urban furniture, lighting, rest areas, and an urban art mural.
Area: 3,000 m²
Status: Implementation
Pabellón Hídrico: The goal is to reactivate a public space in the Lomas del Valle housing unit by installing a community water pavilion and organizing embroidery workshops that build awareness of sustainable water management.
Area: 3,000 m²

Nuevo León – Monterrey
In recent years, Fundación Hogares has carried out interventions in the Villas de San Francisco and San Miguel Residencial housing units in the municipality of Escobedo, as well as in Valle de Santa María in Pesquería.
Parque Cigüeña: A space was created to host activities that improve the quality of life for the Villas de San Francisco community. Initiatives included participatory diagnostics, project socialization, clean-up campaigns, “asphalt art” on a sports court, repairing streetlights, and installing fencing around a soccer field.
Documentary “Parque Cigüeña”: To bring cultural opportunities to children, we organized activities to use audiovisual tools to create life memories and community identity symbols. These included a photography and video workshop, a visit to a local market, interviews with residents and vendors, and a community screening of the documentary. The film won at the 2022 Future Cities Film Festival in Munitec, Guatemala, and has been showcased at various art and film festivals.
Current projects
Parque Búho: The goal is to create a community gathering space and skill development hub, particularly for children and youth, focused on sports, dance, and other arts. Actions include cleaning and pruning the area, refurbishing or replacing existing playground equipment, exercise machines, benches, and public lighting, repairing the sports court, and creating an urban art mural on adjacent housing walls.
Area: 5,000 m²

Area: 500 m²
Status: Implementation
Jalisco – Guadalajara
The municipality of Tlajomulco faces a severe issue of uninhabited housing with 30% of its total housing being abandoned (INEGI, 2020) (ranking #1 in Mexico). In the community of the Villa de Fontana Aqua housing unit, children and youth are immersed in an environment that undermines their rights and development, as most children lack the legal documentation required to prove their Mexican nationality, hindering their access to formal education and other state services.
Current projects
Community school and dining hall: The goal is to prepare the space to ensure educational support and development for beneficiary children. Actions include expanding the classroom, providing classroom and dining hall furniture, building kitchen cabinets and fixtures, and creating a children’s play library.
